Pillows
Transform your stitched needlepoint into a beautifully finished custom pillow.
Our pillow finishing includes professional construction with customer-supplied fabric/trim, a standard polyester fiberfill pillow insert, and one complimentary blocking if the canvas is visibly skewed.
Fabric Requirements: Customers are responsible for providing all backing fabric and any additional fabric required for borders, ruffles, gussets, or other decorative details. Fabric yardage requirements will be determined by the finished pillow size and selected construction style.
Pillow Inserts: A standard polyester fiberfill insert is included in the finishing price. A premium 10% down / 90% feather insert is available for an additional charge.
Pricing: Pillow finishing is priced according to the finished outside dimensions, including any fabric borders. Decorative trims, specialty construction, and upgraded inserts are priced separately.
All finished dimensions and fabric requirements are subject to confirmation by Heirloom Needlepoint Finishing before fabrication.
Custom Fabric Piping
Custom fabric piping creates a clean, tailored finish by adding a fabric-covered cord along the seams of your pillow. Piping can be applied around the outside edge of the pillow, around the needlepoint canvas where it meets a fabric frame, or in both locations. This finishing detail adds definition, structure, and a polished appearance.
Customer-supplied fabric is required.
Premade Decorative Trim
Premade decorative trim adds texture, color, and visual interest to your needlepoint pillow. Decorative trims, such as braided cord, gimp, or other suitable embellishments, are applied along the pillow's outer edge or around the needlepoint canvas to create a finished, coordinated look.
Customer-supplied trim is required.
Mitered Fabric Frame
A mitered fabric frame surrounds the needlepoint canvas with a decorative fabric border. Each corner is precisely cut and joined at a 45-degree angle, creating diagonal seams and a symmetrical, tailored appearance. This traditional finishing technique beautifully frames the stitched design and allows coordinating fabrics to become part of the pillow's overall design.
Customer-supplied fabric is required.
Offset Corner Fabric Frame
An offset corner fabric frame surrounds the needlepoint canvas with a decorative fabric border featuring straight seams rather than diagonal mitered corners. The fabric strips are joined in an overlapping or staggered arrangement, creating a distinctive, contemporary frame with clean lines. This option is especially attractive with striped, patterned, or contrasting fabrics.
Customer-supplied fabric is required.
Fabric Gusset
A fabric gusset is a separate panel of fabric sewn between the front and back of the pillow, creating additional depth and a structured, dimensional appearance. A narrow gusset provides subtle thickness while maintaining a refined, tailored profile. A wider fabric gusset creates a deeper, more substantial pillow with a pronounced boxed appearance. The additional depth provides a structured silhouette and allows coordinating or contrasting fabrics to become a prominent decorative feature.
Customer-supplied fabric is required.
Fabric Ruffle
A narrow fabric ruffle adds a soft, decorative border around the outside edge of the pillow. The fabric is evenly gathered to create gentle fullness, providing a classic, feminine finish without overwhelming the needlepoint design. A wider fabric ruffle creates a fuller, more prominent decorative border around the pillow. The additional width adds softness, movement, and visual interest, making it an excellent choice for traditional or statement pillows.
Customer-supplied fabric is required.
Feather and Down Pillow Insert Upgrade
Upgrade your standard polyester pillow insert to a luxurious blend of 10% down and 90% feathers. This natural-fill insert offers a softer, more relaxed appearance with a comfortable, substantial feel. Feather and down inserts can be fluffed and shaped to maintain the pillow's desired appearance.
Additional charges apply based on the finished pillow size and insert requirements.
Additional Finishing Information
All decorative fabrics and premade trims must be supplied by the customer. Pricing for fabric frames, piping, trim, gussets, and ruffles is based on the finished pillow size and selected finishing options.
Specialty construction, additional gathering fullness, pattern matching, and other custom details may require an additional charge. Multiple finishing options may be combined to create a truly custom needlepoint pillow.
Fabric and Trim Yardages
Important Fabric Information:
Fabric width: All yardage estimates are based on fabric measuring at least 45 inches wide.
Pattern matching: Additional yardage may be required for large patterns, stripes, plaids, or directional prints.
Velvet and specialty fabrics: Additional fabric may be necessary to accommodate fabric nap, directional cutting, or special handling.
Multiple finishing options: If your pillow includes a gusset, fabric-covered cording, or a ruffle, refer to the appropriate charts for each component. When using the same fabric for multiple components, total yardage may vary. Fabric-covered cording yardages are for one row of piping around the pillow. For double cording on gusseted pillows, please double the yardage for the cording fabric.
Custom sizes: Pillows larger than 18 inches, rectangular pillows, and specialty shapes may require individually calculated yardages.
Fabric preparation: Please provide clean, uncut fabric. Do not pre-cut your backing or decorative fabric before sending it to us.
Please note: These charts are intended as general fabric purchasing guidelines. Actual yardage requirements may vary depending on your canvas dimensions, selected finishing style, and fabric characteristics. Heirloom Needlepoint Finishing may request additional fabric when necessary.
